In the last few years, several projects fostering international cooperation for sustainable development among academic institutions have focused their efforts on addressing global challenges at different levels of decision-making by incorporating a bottom-up approach and working with participatory methods. The present book contributes to this endeavour by introducing the results of selected internships developed within the context of the project “Universidade Encontra Economia para Sustentabilidade (UNEES)”.
The project coordinated a partnership among three universities and several private organizations from Germany, Brazil and Mozambique and took place between 2017 and 2020. It was co-financed by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The internships were jointly managed by several project partners, comprised of academic centres and programmes: The Centre for Rural Development (SLE) from the Humboldt University of Berlin; the Post-graduate Programme on Sustainable Development Practices (PPGPDS) from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) and the post-graduate Master Programmes in Development Sociology (MSD); and the Rural Sociology and Development Management (MSG) and Doctoral Programme on Development and Society (DDS) from the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM).
